July 28 SFO council meeting notes

Here are highlights from the Tuesday, July 28, council meeting:

• A check in the amount of $135 was approved for a table at the Midwest Catholic Family Conference, Aug. 7-9. Brother Larry made a personal donation to make up the full cost. Volunteers have been penciled in. Please confirm at our Sunday, Aug. 2 meeting.
• A tentative "contact calendar" for Brother Robert Watkins was approved. Brother Steve Bradshaw compiled the calendar to contact Robert in some manner – a visit, a call, or a card. Details will be explained and copies distributed at Sunday's meeting.
• Brother Steve has compiled a tentative list of those who will be attending the Sunday, Sept. 13, picnic at Sister Vaughn's complex in Augusta. We will pass out a sign-up sheet for side dishes at Sunday's meeting.
• Brother Larry recommended and the board approved a suggestion that we move our usual Christmas project date to early December so that the St. Jude Lord's Pantry would be able to buy turkeys and related holiday fare in time to distribute for the holiday. With that in mind, we will pass the hat around two times at our next few meetings in an attempt to meet our goal of $1,000 for the pantry. The first pass will be for the fraternity, the second for the hungry.

REMINDERS
Retreat Saturday
Our mini-retreat is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday in the library at the Spiritual Life Center. Please remember to bring $7.50 for lunch to give to Brother Chet. If you write a check, make the check out to the St. Anthony SFO. Chet will write one check for those attending to the SLC.

Meeting Sunday 
The regular fraternity meeting is scheduled for 1 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 2. Our snack angels are Jim and Sylvia, Brian, and Chris. Please review chapter 15 of Our Franciscan Journey for initial formation.
