Nov. 18 council meeting

Our Dec. 6 potluck is just around the corner! Mmm. We will have our early Christmas gathering at Vaughn's clubhouse at 711 Smiles Avenue in Augusta – as long as the roads are good. A link with directions is here.

Reminder #1: Potluck Dec. 6
The council met Tuesday, Nov. 18, and approved the change in venue to accommodate the ambulatory needs of all of our brothers and sisters. What is a potluck, without pots? With that in mind, we are asking everyone to email Chris Riggs here by Friday, Nov. 27, with what they are planning to bring to the dinner. The fraternity will provide fried chicken and ham. Here is a list of needs/suggestions:
  • 6 to 7 salads
  • soft drinks
  • bread
  • 2-3 potato dishes
  • 5 desserts
Reminder #2: Money for the hungry
Our Christmas project, raising $1,000 for turkey dinners for families in need, is nearing our goal. We have $750.02. (I like to think the two cents represents what the widow offered in Jesus' parable.) So, if everyone will dig a little deeper, perhaps we can reach our goal at our Dec. 6 gathering at Vaughn's.

Reminder #3: Presentation of check
We will present our Christmas turkey dinner check to Father Mainzer at St. Jude Church on Saturday, Dec. 12. A time will be determined and announced. After the presentation, all are invited to a luncheon with location to be determined.

Not a reminder, just info
In other business, the council is working on the SFO 2016 calendar, including monthly Masses for the living and deceased members of the fraternity, and the issuance of the Fair Share check to the region, which will likely be over $600. The council is also considering a survey/questionnaire that, if approved, would be sent out at the end of the year; and a new resource for ongoing formation.
